Collection: Microneedling
Microneedling is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves the use of a pen device with fine needles to create tiny, controlled injuries in the skin's surface. These micro-injuries stimulate the body's natural healing response, leading to increased collagen and elastin production, which can improve the overall texture and appearance of the skin.
How It Works:
During a microneedling session, one of our providers uses a specialized device to create controlled punctures in the skin. These micro-injuries trigger the body's wound healing process, which involves the production of new collagen and the remodeling of existing skin tissue. As the skin heals, it becomes smoother, firmer, and more even in tone.

Side Effects:
- Redness and Swelling:Â Mild redness and swelling are common immediately after the procedure, but these usually subside within a few days.
- Minor Discomfort:Â Some discomfort or a tingling sensation might be experienced during the procedure, but topical numbing creams are often used to minimize discomfort.
- Dryness and Peeling:Â The treated skin might feel dry and flaky for a few days post-treatment as the skin heals and rejuvenates.
- Risk of Infection:Â Proper aftercare is essential to prevent infection. Avoid touching the treated area and follow any instructions provided by your healthcare provider.
- Pigment Changes:Â In rare cases, changes in skin pigmentation can occur, particularly in individuals with darker skin tones.
- Scarring:Â While extremely rare, there's a minimal risk of scarring if the procedure is not performed correctly.
Pre-Microneedling Care:
- Consultation:Â Schedule a consultation with one of our providers to determine if microneedling is suitable for your skin type and concerns.
- Avoid Sun Exposure:Â Limit sun exposure and tanning for at least two weeks before the procedure. Sunburned or tanned skin is more sensitive and can increase the risk of complications.
- Avoid Certain Treatments:Â Avoid using retinoids, alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs), and beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) for a week before the procedure, as they can make your skin more sensitive.
- Stop Blood Thinners:Â If you take blood-thinning medications or supplements, consult your doctor about whether you should pause them before the treatment to reduce the risk of excessive bleeding and bruising.
- Stay Hydrated:Â Drink plenty of water leading up to the procedure to keep your skin hydrated and support healing.
Post-Microneedling Care:
- Follow Aftercare Instructions:Â Adhere to the specific aftercare instructions provided by your skincare professional. This might include avoiding certain skincare products and treatments for a few days.
- Gentle Cleansing: Gently cleanse your face with a mild cleanser after the procedure. Avoid scrubbing or using harsh cleansers.
- Moisturize:Â Apply a gentle and hydrating moisturizer to keep the skin moist and help with healing.
- Sun Protection:Â Protect your skin from the sun by wearing a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. This is crucial in the days and weeks following the procedure to prevent hyperpigmentation and to protect the healing skin.
- Avoid Makeup:Â If possible, avoid wearing makeup for the first 24 hours after microneedling to allow the skin to breathe and heal.
- Avoid Harsh Products:Â Avoid using products with strong active ingredients like retinoids, AHAs, and BHAs for a few days after the procedure.
- Hydration:Â Drink plenty of water to support your skin's healing process.
- Avoid Intense Exercise:Â Refrain from intense physical activities for a few days after the procedure to prevent excessive sweating and irritation.
- Avoid Touching:Â Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the treated area to minimize the risk of infection.
- Post-Treatment Products:Â If recommended, use any post-treatment products provided by your skincare professional to enhance healing and results.
Remember, microneedling results vary from person to person, and it's important to have realistic expectations. Consult with your skincare professional about the best practices for pre and post-care based on your individual needs.
